From reading essays by Rolling Stone photogs, it seems that the photogs suggest different poses/themes for the subject. Did Kanye ask to pose as Jesus? It's a good photo, from the looks of the tiny web version.
It's basically just that dressing up like Jesus is a cheap way of garnering controversy and/or an egotistical way for a celebrity to whine about how they're treated.
Adams, your "ZZzzzz" attempts to link to a file on a mapped hard drive labeled "L" rather than an internet file.
The photo looks good, and although the "compare yourself to Jesus" theme is old and tired, it wouldn't have made sense for Mr. Very Christian to compare himself to Mohammed.
Also, it's a good photo -- is he actually making a comparison or was it just a really neato looking photo shoot? *sigh* Seeing as how it's Rolling Stone, they probably *were* trying to stir up controversy.
I think Kanye's overrated. He has one good song--"Jesus Walks". All the others sound the same. He's like the Social Distortion of hip hop.
He's even got the same melody/lyric that appears in many of his singles: The one that is goes "Hey mama, I know I act the fool/ but I'll be gone till November goin back to school" in the song to his mom, and then it has the same riff (if that's what you can call it) in "Jesus Walks" and "Golddigger". I'm bored with it. Why must he make a Wyclef Jean reference over and over and over and over and over....

Why should he pose as Mohammed? Isn't Kanye a very vocal Christian?

The above comment should be more generally applied to "comparing yourself to Jesus", not just the more limited case of "dressing up as Jesus."

I've corrected the link.
Oh, and, incidentally, I like Kanye, or at least the songs of his I've heard.
Does anybody even read Rolling Stone anymore?

Kanye West is awesome, saving hip-hop from boring backpackers, etc. Everyone shut up.
